What a valid doctor’s note for work includes
A work note only protects you if your employer can trust it. Can your employer require a doctor’s note?
Usually yes — most employers may ask for documentation for sick absences, and many attendance policies require one after 2–3 consecutive days. But it depends on where you work: several states with paid-sick-leave laws restrict when documentation can be demanded for short absences. Rules by employer
Big hourly employers run very different absence systems, and what a note does for you differs at each. The guides below are written from each company’s actual policies:
A few employers work differently enough to know before you need a note. UPS is a union shop — there is no point system; attendance runs on warning letters and the grievance process, and documented illness is contested through your steward, not a counter. McDonald’s is ~95% franchised, so the policy is your owner’s: some franchise handbooks make a doctor’s note (plus a return-to-work release) the only way an absence is excused; others never ask. Home Depot runs an occurrence system — calling out with enough accrued sick time to cover the shift is what avoids an occurrence, and a note matters mainly for leaves. For most other large retailers the honest answer is the general one above: check whether your state limits note demands, and use accrued sick time first.

Is an online doctor’s note legitimate?
Yes — a note from a licensed physician who reviewed your case is a real medical document regardless of whether the visit happened in an office or online. Telehealth evaluations are recognized in every state we operate in, and every note is verifiable by your employer.
How fast will I get my note?
Most notes are reviewed and delivered the same day, often within hours. You answer the medical questions once; a physician reviews your case personally.
Can it be backdated to when I was actually sick?
Your note covers the dates of the illness you report, within clinical limits the physician judges reasonable. Documentation exists to reflect what happened, not to invent it.
What if my employer calls to check?
That’s what the QR verification exists for — your employer scans it or visits the verification page and sees the note is genuine, without learning anything about your health beyond the excused dates.
