Does Disney parks accept an online doctor’s note?
At the Disneyland Resort a note is not required to call out and does not by itself excuse missed time. Paid sick time applied by the end of the following work week, or an approved leave, is what excuses it. The company may request supporting documentation from your provider.
What Disney parks (Disneyland Resort / Walt Disney World cast members) workers are told
Absences tracked
Disneyland Resort (official, effective Oct 2, 2022): missed time measured in hours; unexcused hours and tardies tracked on a rolling 12 months; discipline triggers every 25 unexcused hours (Full-Time and Casual Regular) or 17 (Casual Temporary) and every 4 tardies (Full-Time and Casual Regular) or 3 (Casual Temporary); no-call/no-show: written warning, final, termination at 3 in 12 months. Walt Disney World full-time cast under the STCU contract (2022-2027) are on an instance count, not hours: a reprimand starts at 3 absences in 30 days, 6 in 90, 9 in 180 or 12 in 365; a tardy over 2 hours counts as one absence, 2 hours or less as half; three reprimands in 24 months leads to termination.
Note required
A note is not required to call out and does not by itself excuse missed time; 'the Company may request supporting documentation from their medical provider.' Missed time is excused when covered by paid sick time (applied by end of the following work week) or a legally protected leave/accommodation.
Where to submit
Notify your leader or designated contact at least 2 hours before the shift; apply paid sick time by the end of the work week following the absence (the policy does not name the system); it does not say how to file a leave.
Paid sick time
Paid sick time under union contracts and state law (California at Disneyland). At Walt Disney World, full-time STCU cast earn up to 48 sick hours a year and can bank up to 200 hours; for three or more consecutive shifts of sick leave the Company may request a physician's written statement, and it may require proof of illness in any case.

What a SickSlip note shows Disney parks HR
The physician’s name and NPI number, the dates you are excused, a document ID, and a verification link HR can open without calling anyone. It does not include your diagnosis. Whether Disney parks accepts it depends on the rule above, not on where the physician saw you: no US state law limits a sick note to in-person visits, and the federal telehealth rules are on telehealth.hhs.gov.
Your state may limit what Disney parks can demand
Twenty states and the District of Columbia have a paid-sick-leave law, and most of them only let an employer ask for a note after three consecutive days. Company policy cannot override that. Check yours in the state-by-state doctor’s note law index.

The rules that sit above Disney parks’s policy
- Federal leave (FMLA). An employer may require medical certification for a serious health condition, and must give you at least 15 calendar days to return it. 29 CFR 825.305 and U.S. Department of Labor Fact Sheet 28G.
- Disability (ADA). Points systems applied to disability-related absences have been challenged; medical inquiries must be job-related and consistent with business necessity. EEOC enforcement guidance.
- State paid-sick-leave law. Twenty states and D.C. limit when any employer, Disney parks included, may demand a note. Every state’s rule, with the statute.
- Telehealth. Federal guidance treats secure messaging with a licensed provider as telehealth; no state law limits a sick note to in-person visits. telehealth.hhs.gov.
