Does AutoZone accept an online doctor’s note?

AutoZone's no-fault system counts occurrences. A 2022 Idaho federal opinion describing AutoZone's handbook says a sick day called in with proper notice can still earn an occurrence point without a doctor's note. In a separate EEOC case (N.D. Ill., 2022) a federal judge found AutoZone's 12-point no-fault policy may violate the ADA when applied to disability-related absences.

Idaho, 2022): points per occurrence on a rolling 12-month period, posted daily in each store; a sick call with proper notice can still be pointed without a doctor's note; the oldest points drop off after 90 consecutive days of perfect attendance. The EEOC v. AutoZone ruling (N.D. Ill., 2022) describes a 12-point termination threshold.

Per the Bradley opinion, a doctor's note is what keeps a properly reported sick day from earning a point; the opinion does not say how notes affect multi-day absences. Separately, EEOC v. AutoZone (N.D. Ill., 2022) held the no-fault policy may violate the ADA for disability absences.
